At day first, we will pick you up from your accommodation and move out to discover the countryside while moving in the direction of the South Coast of Iceland.
We start the adventure at the time when we pick you from the Reykjavík in a comfy and relaxing minibus prior to moving directly to the south. Our arrival is declared by the prevailing dramatic performance of Seljalandsfoss. You are advised to bring a raincoat with you if you want to have a hike behind the waterfalls.
Moving further towards the east along with the cost is Skógafoss waterfall. This waterfall is amazingly beautiful and best for photography. Securing in between the little narrow valley, the Skógá river falls down the 60 meters high ridge before going downwards towards the landscape and falls in Atlantic ocean. You will see the staircase along the gorge where you can move up for an adorable view of the waterfall.
DC-3 Plane Wreck on Sólheimasandur
After Skógafoss waterfall, we move towards the Sólheimasandur desert where you will witness a crashed plane. The US Navy DC-3 Plane happened to crash landed in 1973 when the fuel ran out in the midair. Since that time, the wreck has been memorialized in various viral photographs and music videos.
Reynisfjara, the Black Sand Beach
Moving even further towards the east, we go to see the sandy black beach of Reynisfjara where you will see huge waves at the Atlantic coastline striking the exclusive basalt geometric columns in the cliff above the sand. You will also be able to see from the distance, the rock pillars submerged in water and cliffs of Dýrhólaey. The bird lover will definitely love this area as this area is full of puffins and lots of other unique bird species in summer months i.e. from June to August.
Glacier Hike in Skaftafell
We will take you to hike on a glacier originating from one of the biggest glaciers in Iceland know as Vatnajökull. Before moving to hike we fulfill all of the requirements from our trained glacier guides and wear all the safety equipment including crampons, harnesses, ice ax, and helmets. Then we hike there for one and half hour. It is definitely a great experience of glacier hiking Iceland to learn more about the rare natural process and incredible views.
Jökulsárlón, the Glacier Lagoon
Moving forward on day 2, we will move to Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon which is a glacial lagoon with a depth of 200 meters. It is fed by the outlet glacier of Europe’s largest glacier i.e. Breiðamerkurjökull. Huge icebergs used to originate from Breiðamerkurjökull throughout the year, so the lagoon usually stays full of ice floating towards the south. You can also book the boat ride through the icebergs in summer days using troll expeditions to witness the ice from close. If you don’t like boating, you can simply walk along the glacier lagoon and enjoy the wonderful view and silence of nature in Iceland.
You will see the icebergs floating on the Atlantic Ocean from Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon on the other side of the road where they are rapidly moving back towards the shore by the winds and tide forces. This Diamond black sand beach is filled with little ice rocks in different size and shapes and sparks just like a diamond when the daylight falls on them.
