If the weather is sunny on the particular day, you would be able to witness the Langjökull glacier from a distance and also see a beautiful rainbow in the water droplets coming off the waterfall.
Geysir Geothermal Area
This area has over hundreds of colorful and exciting hot springs that erupts and two geysers. One of those geysers is known as “Geysir” and gave name to all of the geysers throughout the world. Well, it erupts very less frequently these days. The second one geyser is known as “Strokkur” and used to erupt up to the height of 40 meters after every 5 minutes.
This waterfall has small size as compared to other waterfalls in Iceland but it is equally gorgeous and spectacular. It is located in the river Tungufljót – a river popular for salmon. A salmon staircase is built along the sides of the river to increase the area of the river for salmon. In summer days, the fishermen try to find the salmon at the waterfall and the salmon are seen hopping up to the staircase.

Kerið Volcanic Crater
The eruption happened 3,000 yeas ago results in the formation of an amazing volcanic crater having a lake in the center. Some people consider it as a product of huge explosion. The most believable assumption is that the volcanic crater is formed due to the distortion of volcanic cone into magma chamber when the eruption stopped. Even these days, we are able to see the “lifting stones” which those fishermen used to check their powers and confirm themselves of being worthy of straining life of Atlantic rowboat fishing. You can also lift them by yourself. In the year 1948, a British fishing trawling boat was stuck on the sand reef of Djúpalónssandur. Five of them died while the other 14 were rescued by the local rescue team. We can still witness the remains of their ship which reminds us of the powers of nature.
