There are few things in this world that are more mesmerizing then the endless expanse of a blue glacier lagoon stretched out before you. The lagoon is one of the country’s many wonders. In this tour, you will be taken to not only see the blue lagoon Iceland, you will also get to visit the nifty little fishing village of Vik as well as sightsee the grand waterfall called Seljalandfoss.

The glacier lagoon is a marvellous epoch of nature and one of the most beautiful lagoons in Iceland. It is fed by Vatnojokull which is the largest glacier in Iceland. It might be a little far away as it’s far into the south of the country, but its pristine waters make it worth the drive. The tour itself is somewhat lengthy so make sure you have time on your hands when you set out on it! The constantly breaking ice floats downstream and into the lagoon which makes forth a wonderfully beautiful landscape which is ever transient and always changing.

There are four main highlights for you to enjoy on this tour. Starting with the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon itself, moving onto a boat ride which is optional for you to take, then sightseeing the magnificence of the grand waterfall and then finally visiting the lovely little fishing village of Vik.

The lagoon is on the coast of the North Atlantic ocean and in turn a freezing mass of crystal clear water. The constantly breaking ice that drifts along the surface of the water makes it a popular tourist attraction as the water alone looks like a scene out of a painting.

The grand waterfall itself is another popular attraction. The most fascinating thing about it is the fact that you can go behind the cascade of water and have the pleasure of viewing the powerful display of nature literally from behind the scenes!

Village of Vík

Speaking of the village of Vik, it is one of the smallest in Iceland with a population of only 300. It is a great place for you to relax and refresh yourself after a long and tiring journey. The tiny shops in the village offer an excellent place for tourists to get their hands on some local souvenirs.

Tourists should note that there is no food inclusive on this tour however there will be shops and restaurants along the way where you will be able to buy your own refreshments!
