A Sample of Iceland
The Snæfellsnes peninsula in the West of Iceland is almost like a miniature version of the entire island. The area has beautiful samples of some of the natural wonders Iceland is so famous for. This includes black beaches, magnificent mountains, volcanic craters, incredible birdlife, magical caves, and of course, the most picturesque glacier of them all, Snæfellsjökull.
Volcanoes & Villages
This tour stops at the small fishing village of Arnarstapi and provides real insight into quintessential volcanic craters. Along the way you’ll get great views of the iconic Kirkjufell mountain and the dark cliffs and black sand of Djúpalónssandur bay are a favourite among photographers.
The Star of the Show
In the middle of this beautiful peninsula sits Snæfellsjökull, the stunning glacier that has captured the imagination of people all over the world, including Jules Verne who began his "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" at Snæfellsjökull glacier. The tour offers numerous views of this beautiful landmark. It is after all the real star of the show.
Borgarnes is a town located on a peninsula at the shore of Borgarfjörður in Iceland and is the largest town in the Borgarbyggð municipality with a population of about 3750 residents. Here we make our first small stop and will be able to buy small snacks which we recommend for the long trip
A Fishing village known for its early founding and being since 1565 a trading post of the Danish Crown and a seat of Viceroyalty in the region until the 19th century. Birdlife and unique rock formations can be found all across the shores of the village. A Statue of Bárður Snæfellsáss - a legendary half human, half ogre from the Icelandic Sagas is prominently displayed.
A black sand beach near the foot of Snæfellsjökull Glacier. Rusted remains of the British trawler Epine (Grimsby) litter the coast after having wrecked on the cliffs nearby on March 13 1948. Four lifting stones can also be found here that were used as a test of strength among the locals. The Fullsterkur stone weighs 154kg, Hálfsterkur weighs in at 100kg, Hálfdrættingur at 54 kg, Amlóði at 23kg. To be considered to be fit to work on the boats that once populated the beach, a successful lift of Hálfdrættingur was the minimum weight required to atleast hip-height.
One of the many Iceland tourist attractions includes the Snæfellsnes peninsula in West Iceland which is almost a scaled-down version of the island. Along with the characteristic and breathtaking Snæfellsjökull glacier, there are other gorgeous spots present as well for sightseeing such as the black sandy beaches, spectacular mountains, bird cliffs, volcanic craters and lastly the Snæfellsjökull National Park.
On this tour, the tourists are taken to Arnarstapi, which is a small fishing village, as well Hellnar, which is the ancient fishing village. The tour package also includes visiting the Djúpalónssandur beach and they also pass by the abstract Kirkjufell Mountain.

The duration of the tour is from 8:00 to 20:30 that is it takes a total of 12 hours and 30 minutes to bear witness the magnificent view.
